About Us

What is special about us?

The Ashburton-Burwood Uniting Church is a newly amalgamated church community, worshiping in a gentle and affirming reformation tradition with a mixture of contemporary and older songs, talented musicians with every Sunday morning service and sharing personal journeys of life and faith. The congregation is well supported by lay leadership, creative liturgies and interactive worship styles. At the moment our 10am Sunday morning worship services alternate between our 'Burwood' church (located in Hyslop Street Glen Iris) and Ashburton. From February 2026 our 10am Sunday services will be located at Ashburton, 3 Ashburn Grove weekly.

We have regular opportunities to engage faith-seekers through personal contact, prayer groups and Bible study groups.

Social justice and community outreach are also priorities of our community. At Burwood we have our regular weekly Thursday morning drop-in centre operating all year round, called Barry's Place which is open to anyone looking for company, a friendly chat or a place to spend some time. At our Ashburton church we have a monthly community morning tea and also a monthly supper - everyone is welcome.

Ashburton-Burwood Uniting Church physically supports asylum seekers through housing, and is a general supporter of indigenous peoples and broader issues of justice. At 3 Ashburn Grove we have our Care and Kindness Pantry for those who struggle to put food on the table. At Hyslop Street we collect food to distribute to the food banks we support.
